Here are some of our recommendations on what you can do to optimize your PC with Horizon Zero Dawn Experience. As always, we really appreciate your feedback and support!
Make sure you are using the latest graphics drivers available for anyone’s card. Older drivers may cause cosmetic or stability issues:
- NVIDIA: 451.67
- AMD: 20.7.2 (“Optional” / or no WHQL) newer
Expect new drivers released during launch that may provide additional benefits for Horizon Zero Dawn on PC.
In order to improve performance,Activity in the game, we tracked the first collection of one-time shaders before the game launched. For other systems, this can usually take 10-15 minutes. Once the owners are done, you won’t have to do it again unless you make major hardware changes or update your drivers online. We are looking for ways to make this process even easier.
- Anisotropic filter options not working. This is a high priority issue that we need to address.
- Some systems may experience brief stutters in cutscenes during general traversal, UI updates, quest updates, or camera changes. This is a priority issue we need to address.
- Some animations are designed to only reload at 30fps when the game is running at a much higher framerate. Here we are looking into how we can improve this with each future update.
- The shader compilation process does not properly check the remaining disk space on the user’s PC and may cause crashes when not available. The user’s disk space is low (the compilation task requires approximately 2 GB of additional disk space).

- Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash on the command mapping selection screen when moving the game window frame to the second screen using all Win + arrow key combinations.

- Fixed another issue that caused the framerate to misbehave at maximum quality at 3840 x 2160.

- Fixed an issue where searching for Pitchcliff in-game was likely to drop framerate on the way.
- Fixed an issue that caused building issues when streaming a new game if the player closed Mother’s Cradle.
- Fixed an issue that caused an action to have graphical glitches if it ever came close to installing battery and firewall.
