For now, click the Download button in the sidebar and the PowerDVD download page will definitely open in a new tab.

My HP Journal comes preloaded with PowerDVD 10 when using Blu-Ray support. However, when I tried to install the latest version (HP-CNB.HP_RiTA10_v2808_DVD110414-02_Normal), the previous big install was uninstalled and then gave a nice error message: “Error Message: Number: 0x80040707 Description: DLL function call failed: VerCheck. (The CheckVersion6 installation should now be complete.) Trying to factory reset and install software from the HP support site, but I get the same error code. My specs are below, any support would be greatly appreciated.

Why does CyberLink PowerDVD not working?

When you have a problem, one of three usually occurs; (1) PowerDVD has been permanently installed correctly, (2) there is a problem with the drive, or (3) the DVD may not be compatible with all drives or needs help cleaning. Install PowerDVD first. Close all unnecessary exercise programs before starting.

Why does CyberLink PowerDVD not working?

When you encounter this problem, one of three things naturally happens; (1) PowerDVD was not installed correctly, (2) there is a problem with the drive, or (3) the disc may be far from compatiblewith the drive and/or it needs to be cleaned. First, reinstall PowerDVD. Before you begin, close any unnecessary running programs.

Does anyone else have a solution? Exactly the same thing just happened to me. System restore and all attempts to download and reinstall result in the same error as before.

I was able to reinstall my OEM version tonight. In the end, I tried a trial installer 9 and the result was ok. Then I thought and uninstalled a fresh install of my 10 OEM version. It failed with the same error as before.

However, I then deleted the vercheck.dll file from the SWSETUP\DVD2D3D folder and restarted setup.exe. Pthe dialogs went off, the only thing that was simple and good, reinstalled v10.

Hope others will correct and maybe someone will pick up this post and say they didn’t know or process 88 doesn’t have to be at the beginning, right.

Okay, late to let them party (actually a problem), but I’m glad I found Vanyun’s post, I was there to install PowerDVD 10 and I downloaded it from the HP website. The secret was a comment to vercheck.dll. I did the following:

1. Let the resulting program run to completion (i.e., a partial crash), install it, then find the folder where all these files were extracted.

4. Keep track of reminders, etc. Success!
